The first Discovery for Women Rally year held on Sunday March 8. The programme which had women from all walks of life (both young and old) filling up the new auditorium of the church lived up to expectations as the move of the Holy Spirit was evident from the start with Pastor Ronke Aladeselu leading the opening prayers. This was followed by a praise and worship session led by Sister Nkechi of the Grace Levites.

The testimony session had Mrs. Blessing Odoenyi tell of how God surpassed her expectations with a set of quintuplets. She had attended the last Discovery for Women with the sole request for a second baby after three miscarriages. According to her, she obeyed the instruction to give more than she had planned to give as offering that day, and God blew her mind as she got pregnant shortly after. The scan revealed she was carrying five babies. She testified further that God made the pregnancy very easy for her as she never had any complications and had the babies safely (Although one of the babies was lost post-delivery). And that God perfected His work by restoring her health and preserving her life when she fell sick after having the babies. There were other testimonies of preservation, provision and restoration

The guest artiste, Oba was then invited to minister in songs which include ‘Gbekele l’Oluwa’ and ‘Lead me Lord’
Pastor Nomthi who ushered in Pastor Taiwo shared from the story of the boy who was afflicted with a dumb spirit in Mark 9:17-27. She said that when Jesus had cast out the spirit from the boy, he appeared dead and people thought he was dead until Jesus took his hands and lifted him up. She noted that it is often when a harvest or a turnaround in a situation is around the corner that things go really bad like a dead situation. She prayed that the Lord will have compassion on everyone and turn things around.

The climax for the evening came with Pastor Taiwo’s ministration which was hinged on -Mark 4, when Jesus on his way to Galilee felt the need to go through Samaria. Noting that because of little knowledge we often stereotype others, Jesus normally should have had nothing to do with the woman of Samaria as Jews did not interact with Samaritans, but he did without prejudice because of the ‘need’ for the harvest of souls.

He said though Jesus was physically hungry and thirsty, the need to harvest souls into the Kingdom of God was more pressing. In his words, “The greatest food is the fulfillment of purpose, His assignment, the will of the Father”

The man of God said further that Jesus felt the need to pass through Samaria because of the harvest that was waiting there, However, Pastor Taiwo observed that: “Is it possible to be in the midst of a harvest and not know? Many believers don’t know. We are still crying for what He has already made available, because unlike the sons of Issacchar, we don’t know the times, thus we don’t know what to do.”

He encouraged the women that they came out of the foregoing equation changed “the day you gave your life to Christ, there was a transformation. The price had been paid, so stop the limited mentality, stop the slave mentality and stop the sinner mentally! Jesus has done it so get in with your sickle!”

Imploring the women to live their lives in obedience and constantly renew their minds with the word of God, he wrapped up the evening with prophetic utterances, prayers and laying on of hands, even as the women were urged to take home the fruits that had been placed at the altar.
